Caratteristiche del suolo:

La tipologia di suolo secondo la classificazione FAO è Calcic Kastanozem Skeletic (WRB 2006).

La roccia madre è costituita da carbonato di calcio e la maggior parte del materiale ha un’origine alluvionale e deriva dal vicino fiume Sele.

Nell’orizzonte di profondità 40 cm, il terreno presenta una consistenza argillosa (argilla: 52%, limo: 28%; sabbia: 20%), mentre in zone isolate localizzate nella sezione sud-ovest del campo, a circa 60 m di distanza dall’apparato di misura, si rinviene una tessitura grossolana (argilla: 14%, limo: 11% e sabbia: 75%)

Il pH e la densità apparente sono pari 7,5 e 1,2 g cm-3, rispettivamente.

la capacità di campo e il punto di appassimento sono pari a 30,9 ± 3,8% e 17,2 ± 1,7%,

il contenuto in sostanza organica è 2,5 ± 0,3%.
